After achieving our first historical landmark, the first healthy child born to a menopausal woman in Europe in 1989, to the current use of Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Reproductive Surgery, KAPETANAKIS Center continues its pioneering work, providing definitive solutions to infertility.

2022

Once again, the KAPETANAKIS Center applies state-of-the art technology in assisted reproduction using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accurately evaluate and select the top quality embryos to enhance pregnancy rates.

Dr. Vasileios Kapetanakis was elected new Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the MITERA Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics Hospital.

A dream came true: A woman became pregnant with the use of an innovative ovarian tumor removal method! Our medical team was faced with a very interesting and very rare medical case with a happy ending!

The Specialized Center for Advanced Endoscopic Surgery (using Laparoscopy, Robotics and Hysteroscopy) was established under the direction of Dr. Vasileios Kapetanakis, in one of the largest treatment centers in Greece, the HYGEIA Group.

6 SEP 2017

We performed the first gynecologic surgery in Greece, using the new state-of-the art 4th generation Da Vinci Xi robotic system. It is a sophisticated technological tool, which opens up new possibilities in the field of Gynecological Surgery, offering both quality and safety.

A global scientific breakthrough achieved by KAPETANAKIS Center: A woman became pregnant and gave birth to two healthy children, despite the rare bleeding disease of the uterus she was suffering from.

3 APR 2014

The KAPETANAKIS Gynecologic Center for Reproduction & Genetics has successfully completed one of the largest studies in Europe, the only one in Greece, titled: “Relationship between IVF and gynecologic cancers”.

«I beat both cancer and “half” uterus»
A 30 year old Greek woman with advanced cervical cancer achieved pregnancy thanks to the personalized treatment she received from the KAPETANAKIS Center Medical team.

2 ΙΟΥΝ 2008

The first Robotic Total Hysterectomy was performed in Greece using the Da Vinci method, in collaboration with Dr. Kapetanakis. This method overcomes the disadvantages of open surgery taking a step beyond laparoscopy, therefore ensuring accuracy down to a tenth of a millimeter.

2 DEC 2001

For the first time in Greece, a 38 year old mother – a Duchenne muscular dystrophy carrier, gave birth to a healthy baby girl, with the use of the method of embryo biopsy and sex pre-selection (FISH-PGD).

25 MAY 1999

At the KAPETANAKIS Center, a woman carrier for the LOWE syndrome, which affects male embryos, gave birth to a healthy baby girl using the method of embryo biopsy and sex pre-selection (FISH-PGD).

1998

We were the first to apply Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis in Greece using the method of Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH – PGD) for accurately detecting chromosomal abnormalities in embryos (e.g. Down syndrome), as well as embryo sex selection for sex-linked diseases screening with total success.

10 MAY 1996

It was with great emotion that we welcomed the first quadruplets born in Greece using the intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) method.

8 SEP 1995

We were the first in Greece to apply Microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA), successfully treating male infertility and achieving childbirth using the ICSI technique (insertion of sperm into the egg with a fine needle).

1994

For the first time in Greece, we successfully applied the method of Surgical Laparoscopy in Microsurgery of the fallopian tubes, a landmark achievement for our medical practice.

1990

We break ground by introducing the revolutionary & pioneering “Surgical Laparoscopy” technique, which we have been applying successfully to this date to nearly all gynecology procedures in Greece, e.g. ovarian cysts, fibroids, ectopic pregnancies, and even hysterectomy.

10 NOV 1990

Successful birth of the first baby in Greece using implantation of frozen embryos implantation following IVF, introducing the pioneering method of embryo cryopreservation.

1989

We achieved the first birth of a healthy child in Europe born to a menopausal woman with donor eggs using In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

1982

We started a new chapter in Greece by introducing diagnostic laparoscopy and the successful implementation of the fallopian tube microsurgery. This revolutionary approach – method opens up new horizons for the accurate diagnosis and surgical treatment of infertility.
