Such indications include:
- History of a prior child with chromosomal abnormalities.
- History of recurrent miscarriages (more than 3 consecutive spontaneous abortions of less than 20 weeks gestation).
- Recurrent IVF failure attempts.
- Carriers of X-linked disease.
In order to screen for gene defects, as is the case of b-thalassemia, genetic analysis of the embryo is performed through PCR technique after biopsy is performed.
